Legates Celebrates Milestone
Celebrating 95 years in Downtown Owen Sound. Congratulations and thank you to Kevin Legate, the Legate family and the staff at Legates Fine Furniture for becoming an important Downtown Owen Sound destination landmark.

The building on the corner of 8th Street and 2nd Avenue East now occupied by Legates Fine Furniture was built in 1906. The 2nd floor was originally occupied by apartments and some offices and the ground floor from 1906 to 1914 was the home of the Farmer’s Bank, and a Flour & Feed Store and a Grocery Store.
In 1914, building owner William Legate opened a furniture store on the ground floor. The store was known as the Owen Sound Furniture House. Ninety-five years later, fourth generation proprietor Kevin Legate is proudly ushering in this milestone achievement.
We encourage you to drop by the store and congratulate Kevin and his staff in person. With a great reputation for quality and service, Legates Fine Furniture is one of Downtown Owen Sound’s retail gems.
