The Georgian Bay Symphony is your community orchestra and has been serving Owen Sound and area for 37 years.

The GBS is made up of over 55 volunteers augmented by a small core group of professional musicians.  John Barnum is the Symphony’s Music Director and each year provided audiences with very memorable shows.The members of the GBS come from all over Grey and Bruce counties and so does our audience.

The Symphony performs five main concerts a season at the OSCVI Auditorium as well as several chamber concerts and special events in various locations in the city.  The GBS also supports a Youth Orchestra that presently has 40 members ranging in age from 8 to 18.  It is part of our mandate to enhance musical education in our area as well as increase appreciation for classical music in young and old. The Youth Orchestra is conducted by Richard Mascall our Composer-in-Residence.
