DIA Board Ready to Grow
At its October 19. 2009 meeting, Owen Sound City Council approved our request to increase the number of appointed directors from seven to nine. Along with two City Council representatives and one non-voting City Staff representative, this brings the Owen Sound Downtown Improvement Area (OSDIA) Board of Management to 12 members.
This is indeed great news and we are looking forward to bringing some additional ideas, excitement, and experience to what is already a dynamic and engaged Board.
Under provincial legislation, the mandate of the OSDIA is to oversee the improvement, beautification, maintenance and promotion of the downtown area (click here for full description). With this in mind, the OSDIA Board of Management meets monthly to strategize, discuss, review, report and/or implement projects aimed at enhancing the viability and sustainability of Downtown Owen Sound.
If you would like more information or are interested in serving on this volunteer board, please contact the Owen Sound Downtown Improvement Area Manager, Irwin Seidman at 519-376-9225.
We are also looking for individuals with a strong interest in how downtown looks and/or in the events that we attract (or hold ourselves). If either of these interest you … please consider joining our beautification or marketing committee. Committees meet monthly and work “hand-on” along with OSDIA staff to manage beautification, maintenance, promotions, and event activities in the DIA area.
If you would like more information or are interested in serving on one of these volunteer committees, please contact the Owen Sound Downtown Improvement Area Manager, Irwin Seidman at 519-376-9225.
With strong commitment and a wide range of perspectives, knowledge, skills, and experiences, our Committees and Board are enthusiastically moving forward with our long term vision for OSDIA success. Please consider volunteering and supporting one of our Committees or joining our Board of Directors.
