Beautiful Downtown Owen Sound
The OSDIA maintenance and horticulture crew will be organizing and installing our hanging baskets, pots, and bridge boxes starting the week of June 8th. They will also be hand planting the large ground level pods during this same time period.
Maintenance and Horticulture Crew Chief, Bill Driscoll recently visited the greenhouse with his team to check out our stock and to get some expert advice from Peter Vanvugt of Vanvugt Greenhouses. Bill was impressed with the quality of product and is looking forward to getting the downtown planted. “Once everything is planted and has the chance to root and spread a little, the Downtown is going to look terrific again this year”, he said.
OSDIA Beautification Committee Chair, Rob Dinsmore agrees, and notes that this year’s downtown horticulture plan is largely based on the successful 2008 design. Nevertheless, his committee is currently looking at developing a longer term strategy which among other things includes a four season approach to downtown beautification. Rob says that more information about these plans will be forthcoming and invites your ideas and feedback.
